You're a great mechanic. Keeping the week full of the right work, whether that's bays to fill or a run to plan, is the part that eats your time and headspace.
Apto Digital is a Gold Coast digital marketing agency for mechanical workshops and mobile mechanics, including the many businesses that are both. We turn the searches already happening in your area into booked jobs, so your week fills with work worth doing instead of whatever referrals happen to send your way.
- Service businesses only
- No lock-in contracts
- Certified Google Partner
- Results you can measure
Referrals are unpredictable, and they don't pick the jobs
Most of the mechanics we work with grew on word of mouth. It works until it doesn't. Referrals slow down without warning, and the jobs they bring are pot luck: a quick check here, a bargain-hunter there, rarely the steady, profitable work you'd choose.
- Quiet weeks you can't predict or plan around
- Price shoppers who haggle or never book
- Too many small jobs, not enough profitable ones
- No clear view of where your next booking comes from
Every service you offer, marketed to the right driver
We know how a mechanic makes money, in the bays or on the road, so we point your budget at the work that actually pays while still capturing the everyday jobs that keep customers coming back.
- Logbook servicing
- Major & minor services
- Brakes & clutches
- Diagnostics & auto electrical
- Air conditioning regas
- Suspension & steering
- Pre-purchase inspections

What mechanics ask us
How much should a mechanic spend on Google Ads each month?
Work it back from what a job is worth to you. If an average booking brings in $400 and you want ten more a month, the budget needs to cover the clicks it takes to win ten. What that costs depends on how competitive your suburb is, so we size it with you before anything goes live. Starting smaller and scaling once the numbers hold up is usually the smarter move.
Is Google Ads worth it for a one-man operation, or only for big chains?
Small operators often get more out of it. You can target a tight radius around your workshop, or the area you're willing to drive to, instead of bidding across a whole city. Every dollar goes to drivers close enough to actually book. A chain is paying for reach it can't service. You are not competing with their budget, you are competing for the drivers nearest you.
How do I get more logbook servicing instead of cheap one-off jobs?
By choosing which searches you pay for. Someone searching "logbook service" or "major service" is planning maintenance and expects to pay properly. Someone searching "cheapest oil change near me" is shopping on price and will haggle. We build the campaign around the first group and add the second as negative keywords, so you stop paying for clicks you don't want.
How long does it take to see bookings from Google Ads for a mechanic?
Calls usually start in the first week or two, because people looking for a mechanic need one now rather than next month. The first month is mostly learning which searches turn into booked jobs. Cost per booking normally improves from there as we cut what isn't working, so judge it on month two and three rather than the first fortnight.
Should a mobile mechanic advertise differently to a workshop?
Yes. A mobile mechanic is selling convenience and a service radius, so the ad has to lead with coming to them and how far you'll travel. A workshop is selling capability, equipment, and being able to keep the car. The keywords overlap but the ad copy and the landing page shouldn't be the same.
I run a workshop and do mobile work. Can one campaign cover both?
It can, but it's usually better as two. They're different offers to different drivers: one wants a hoist and diagnostics, the other wants you in their driveway before work. Splitting them lets you see which side is actually bringing the profitable jobs, and shift budget to whichever you'd rather grow. That's a decision you make with real numbers instead of a hunch.
Do I need a website, or is a Google Business Profile enough?
Your Business Profile should be set up properly either way, and it does a lot of work for map searches. But ads need somewhere to send people, and a page built around one service converts far better than a homepage listing everything you do. You don't need a big website, you need the right page.
